Woods at Sasan, India

"It's exciting when you come on board with a brand at such an early stage. We love to help shape the storytelling, messaging and positioning of exciting and relevant newcomers. This is a design-led hotel which ticks all our boxes by prioritising nature, connection and healing."

An eco-conscious, contemporary wellness & wildlife retreat which sets a new benchmark in India’s lesser-known western state of Gujarat. The serene 38 bedrooms, each with their own little garden, are the epitome of sophisticated simplicity and are centred around an 8-acre beautiful mango orchard on the edge of The Gir National Park.

This stunning wildlife sanctuary was established to protect the last of Asiatic lions in the wild; it remains one of India’s most successful conservation stories. But a stay at Woods at Sasan isn’t just about open-jeep safari, dawn birdwatching (there are over 300 species, many of them migratory and rare) and lunch in the jungle cooked over a wood fire. It’s about experiences of all kinds.

Dedicated to offering discoveries of human and cultural connection as part of the path to wellbeing, guests can learn hand-thrown pottery with Nathabhai or visit the historical city of Junagadh or the famed Somnath temple. There are also village visits, tea time excursions in a vintage car, or a rail journey through the forests.

Food is another central sensory experience. From traditional vegetarian thalis to detox drinks, ingredients are mindfully sourced and follow yogic Sattvic principles. Meanwhile the Som Spa offers yoga, meditation, Ayurveda and a range of holistic treatments and programs all designed to harmonise mind, body and spirit.
