1 - Absorb The Colours - from the evergreens (Scots Pine) to the yellows and browns of the broadleaves, the colourful trees are stunning in autumn. Resident Red Squirrels are regularly spotted, especially in the early morning and late afternoon.
2 - Go On Safari - take a 4x4 around the reserve to see the reforestation, restoration and translocation projects in action. Golden and White-Tailed sea eagles can be seen almost daily on these drives.
3 - Take A (Guided) Hike - wander for a couple of hours through the peaceful Glen Mohr, and lunch at the badger hide with gorgeous views to distract you.
4 - Or Mountain Bike - around the area to the local town of Ardgay, following the river Carron and enjoying the autumnal hills at their finest.
5 - Forage For Girolles - this time of year means mushrooms, and at Alladale it’s an amazing half or full day activity. Scope out the best locations with one of the team, and rustle up ingredients for dinner.
6 - Red Deer Rut (October) - this natural phenomena, where stags challenge each other in boxing displays, provides spectacular sights and sounds, with roars echoing through the glens. It's seen daily in the Reserve.
7 - Leaping Salmon - watch Atlantic Salmon at the spectacular waterfalls at Glencalvie Falls in the river Carron. The best time to see them is between late July and September.
8 - Scottish Wildcats - this breeding programme on site is off limits earlier in the year when the females have their young. By autumn, they're in a truly playful mood and can be visited in guided small groups.
9 - Highland Cows - roam the reserve freely and are a popular sighting at this time of year.
10 - Otters & Dolphins - Loch Fleet is just a 50 minute drive, where Otters and Harbour Seals can be seen at low tide, alongside Osprey and wading birds. Or watch for dolphins on the Black Isle at Chanonry Point from the shore line - a great stopover on your way up to or from Alladale.
