“Simplicity, patience, compassion: these three are your greatest treasures. Simplicity in actions and thoughts and you return to the source of being. Patience with both friends and enemies and you accord with the way things are. Compassion towards yourself and you reconcile all beings in the world.” – Lao Tzu

At a time when the world is facing so many challenges, HAYO’UFIT is celebrating annual World Qigong Day on Saturday April 30th with a call out for you to join them in a practice for peace around ‘the power of gentle’’. Founder Katie Brindle and the team will be celebrating the positive power of gentle exercise and the importance of yin/yang to balance ourselves and therefore the world.

Whether you’re experienced or new to the art of Qigong, join Hayo’uFit for this collective gathering of thanks for the ancient wisdoms of China, which begins in the earliest time zones of Samoa at 10am, before continuing across Oceania, Asia, Africa, Europe, North American and South America with celebrations in 80 nations and hundreds of cities before ending in the last time zone of Hawaii – almost a day later!

We invite you to join in and join Hayo’uFit - at 12pm (noon GMT+1) on Katie Brindle’s @hayoufit instagram for a dynamic hour’s session. Katie will be joined by Hayo'uFit trainers Arron, Manuela, Jess and Maggie. Together, they share gentle moves and the intent that our collective flow of energy will promote a sense of positive inner peace for ourselves, each other and our world.

Research shows that the art of Qigong, rooted in the art of Traditional Chinese Medicine transforms your sleep, stress and energy levels, reducing cortisol and improving immunity. As Katie Brindle, Founder of the world’s first Qigong fitness platform Hayo’uFit, says ‘If you think you’ve tried everything, I promise you haven’t. Because if you are tired, lacking in energy, out of shape or simply not feeling great, trust me Qigong is for you.’’

So please SAVE THE DATE and join our Practice for Peace around 'the power of gentle'

NOTES TO EDITORS:

WHAT IS QIGONG?The ancient practice of Qigong translates to ‘life force practice’. It is a type of exercise that combines slow, considered movements with breathwork and mental engagement for the ultimate self-healing technique.Often called 'Chinese yoga', Qigong encourages the free flow of Qi (energy). Qigong leaves you feeling fit, energised, sculpted and strong. It encourages restorative sleep, good digestion, better mood and vitality. Largely undiscovered in the West, Qigong is quite simply the ultimate self-healing technique.

Largely undiscovered in the West and often referred to as ‘Chinese yoga’. Qigong encourages the free flow of Qi (energy) throughout the body, preventing Qi ‘stagnation’ (blockages) and helping to prevent illness.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Qigong works by boosting your oxygen intake and circulation while your body is in a relaxed state. This means you are building your capacity to store and generate your reserves of Qi, rather than just depleting them through exercise.

In Chinese medicine, the organs are responsible for the health of the body. Working at a muscular-skeletal level is not enough. Qigong nourishes and strengthens all the organs - but, unlike strenuous high-impact workouts, it doesn't strain them.

WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF QIGONG?Qigong has been shown in Western research studies to offer many benefits:

  • Strengthens joints and bones
  • Restores sleep
  • Improves digestion
  • Helps to balance the mood
  • Helps you to feel more energised
  • Reduces anxiety
  • Reduces cortisol, the stress hormone
  • Reduces systemic inflammation
  • Improves immune function
  • Reduces blood pressure

WHO CAN DO QIGONG?Qigong is suitable for everyone no matter their age, physical ability or experience level. However, it is especially ideal for those looking to take care of their overall physical and mental health and wellbeing.
