TENT Launches New Conservation Journeys

TENT's Conservation Journeys are exclusive travel experiences that offer unparalleled access to some of the leading conservation projects on the continent.

Wild places in Europe are diverse, but often overlooked in favour of conservation projects elsewhere in the world. TENT’s mission is to showcase some these leading initiatives on our doorstep that protect and restore wildlife; to connect people to nature and help inspire them to protect these remaining wild places for the benefit of all.

The new TENT Conservation Journeys enable travellers to make connections through impactful experiences, by discovering the conservation work of supported projects and meeting the people behind them. There’s tailored shorter journeys as well as more adventurous, longer trips, including cycling and hiking. All the itineraries include authentic accommodation, delicious local food and unparalleled access to the projects that TENT supports.

Currently, TENT partners with and supports local foundations in Scotland, Romania, Spain and Italy. 2019 sees the introduction of specialised trips to these wild destinations, working with local conservation partners. The projects include:

  • Rewilding and restoring the Highlands at Alladale Wilderness Reserve in Scotland – discover the rewilding vision at this reserve, surrounded by including the planting of native forest, and conservation work with endangered native wildlife such as the red squirrel and Scottish wildcat. From £1,350pp (3 nights)
  • Creating Europe’s largest forested National Park in Carpathia, Romania – an immersive journey through the untamed wilderness of Romania. Explore rich and diverse wildlife and medieval villages in the Carpathians, where over half of Europe’s virgin forest and a third of its large carnivores are found. From £1,440pp (3 nights)

TENT Founder Paul Lister said, “Europe is full of wild and wonderful places, if only you know where to look. These private, wild Journeys are the perfect antidote to our busy daily lives and offer a memorable alternative to a city break or long weekend away. They offer the opportunity to rest, reset and connect to nature – all while helping to protect our shared environment.”

Furthermore, each booking includes a donation to the project visited and so contributes directly to the conservation work taking place on the ground.

Paul added, “With under 5% of charitable giving being focused on the environment, we need to help shift the dial. These new experiences aim to do just that. We want to help shift the consciousness of the curious traveller and inspire them to engage with wildlife conservation in Europe. We are all about impact: positive, life-changing impacts on our wonderful guests; and on the places and projects we support.”

TENT's Conservation Journeys are now bookable through Steppes Travel.
