A Purposeful Summer of Discovery at Broughton Sanctuary: New Holiday Homes, Rewilding Adventures & Wellbeing

This summer, Yorkshire’s Broughton Sanctuary unveils a fresh invitation for guests to reconnect with nature, others, and themselves. From the debut of three new self-catering properties to cool-climate activities like forest bathing and wild swimming, Broughton’s latest offerings tap into the rising demand for purpose-driven escapes just in time for the UK’s peak staycation season. Families, couples and solo travellers alike can explore the new 30km Odyssey Trail or find rest and renewal through the curated Wellbeing Bundle.

Located across 1,030 hectares in the Dales, Broughton Sanctuary encompasses the original Broughton Hall, 23 self-catering accommodations, an ambitious rewilding project in partnership with the White Rose Forest, and the UK’s leading wellbeing centre Avalon Wellbeing. Recognised as the UK’s first ‘Healing Hotel of the World,’ and spotlighted in the National Geographic Traveller Cool List 2024, this pioneering Sanctuary is one of Britain’s most inspiring destinations.

From Historic Hall to Off-Grid Hideaways

From multi-generational holidays and solo breaks to family celebrations, there are accommodations to suit every group size and travel style, aligning with the growing demand for staycations and ‘coolcation’ escapes. Launching this August are three new properties including Oxenclose (3 Bedrooms / 6 Beds), Barnhouse (7 Bedrooms / 14 Beds), and Pasture House (6 Bedrooms / 12 Beds), further expanding the Sanctuary’s collection of unique stays.

Large groups can enjoy exclusive use of the grand Broughton Hall, a Grade I listed 16th-century home and film location, or choose from the range of distinctive self-catering properties. Highlights include Yellison, located near the wild swimming reservoir; The Farmhouse, a modern conversion powered by a ground source system that saves 13 tonnes of carbon per year; The Manse, formerly the estate’s Priest House; and Eden, a characterful party house with space for a marquee. Couples and solo travellers can retreat to one- and two-bedroom stays such as Low Lodge, ideally placed for exploring the Yorkshire Dales, the Grade II listed Middle Lodge beside the Hall, or the romantic Ivy Cottage.

Regenerative Summer Exploration on the Odyssey Trail

Offering environmental education and outdoor adventure, the 30km self-guided Odyssey Trail invites adults and children to explore rewilded landscapes and storytelling zones across five interconnected loops. Designed to ignite curiosity and inspire movement, the Trail takes in key sites and milestones linked to Broughton’s pioneering restoration project, including a flourishing woodland and the newly-introduced Beavers, Iron Age Pigs, and Riggit Galloway Cattle.
