Fivelements unveils its next chapter as a global integrative wellbeing brand
Under GOCO Hospitality, the brand will debut its first new property in Koh Samui in 2027, with further expansion across Europe to follow
Fivelements Samui
Fivelements is entering a new era, evolving from a pioneering Balinese healing sanctuary into a global wellness hospitality brand. Following its acquisition by GOCO Hospitality in 2024, the brand is now embarking on an ambitious international expansion, with Fivelements Samui opening in early 2027, followed by the transformation of Fivelements Ubud in 2028 and then expansion into Europe, with new destinations under development in Switzerland (2029) and Montenegro (2030).
The growth marks a significant new chapter for Fivelements, which was founded in Bali in 2007 and has since become synonymous with its pioneering approach to plant-forward cuisine, traditional healing, holistic wellbeing and community empowerment.
Under its new ownership - GOCO, the global wellness consultancy group founded by industry veteran Ingo Schweder - Fivelements will evolve into a network of destinations, retreats and personalised wellbeing programmes, bringing together longevity science, diagnostics and contemporary knowledge with ancestral wisdom, nature and local culture. Across the portfolio, a shared Fivelements wellness philosophy will be expressed through each destination's individual character, drawing from its landscape, architecture, culture and traditions to create experiences that feel distinctly Fivelements and truly of their place.
Fivelements will be GOCO Hospitality’s first consumer-facing global brand, bringing the group’s four decades of expertise in wellness, hospitality, development and operations to a new generation of wellness travellers. Its ambition is to make wellbeing part of everyday life, not something addressed only when a problem arises.
“Our vision has always been larger than creating beautiful resorts,” says Ingo Schweder, Founder and CEO of GOCO Hospitality and Owner of Fivelements. “We want to create destinations that inspire healthier ways of living and support people at every stage of their wellbeing journey, combining local culture, evidence-based wellness, longevity science and genuine human connection. Our goal is to help people live longer in better health.”

Fivelements Properties: Bali and Beyond
Fivelements Ubud, Bali- Fivelements’ roots are firmly in Bali, where its original retreat on the banks of the Ayung River opened in 2007. The property established many of the principles that continue to define the brand today: organic cultivation, traditional healing, responsible use of resources and a deep connection to community.
In 2028, Fivelements Ubud will enter its next chapter with room renovations, offering 11 new waterfront villas, each with a private pool. Many of the resort’s signature experiences will remain, including its plant-forward kitchen, cookery school and organic farm that is home to tea botanicals, vegetable beds, ducks, chickens and stingless beehives.
Its commitment to the local community will continue to evolve. Alongside Fivelements’ existing sponsorship of education for children from a nearby orphanage, the property supports a local village waste-management system and helps farmers establish coffee plantations. Together, these initiatives reflect Fivelements’ broader philosophy that sustainability is not a standalone programme or collection of initiatives, but something that should be embedded in the way a property is designed, operated and experienced.
Fivelements Samui, Thailand - Opening in early 2027, Fivelements Samui will be the brand’s flagship property. Set amongst two hectares of tropical rainforest, a former beachfront hotel in Lamai, Koh Samui will be transformed into a new-generation wellbeing destination. The property’s original founder drew heavily on his Chinese heritage, reflected in the architecture, antiques, characters and principles of feng shui.
Fivelements will preserve this identity while introducing a comprehensive layer of wellbeing experiences, including thermal and rainforest bathing, a yoga shala overlooking the ocean, and a dedicated longevity centre. The result will be a destination where the island’s natural environment and cultural history are part of the experience. The brand will also create a purpose-built employee village to create a dedicated home for the team.
Fivelements Leysin, Switzerland - Planned for 2029 is a destination in Montreux, where Fivelements will transform the historic Les Chamois property into an alpine wellness and longevity destination. The property will have 60 keys in the main building, 29 chalets, two restaurants; and 4000 square metres of wellness space.
Fivelements Montenegro - In 2030, Fivelements will expand further into Europe with a property set among the pine forests and alpine landscapes of Biogradska Gora. This will be one of the most comprehensive Fivelements’ properties, featuring residences and a wellness community. Here, the local environment and traditions will inform the programme, with the region’s herbal knowledge, seasonal practices and traditions around fermented foods providing a natural foundation for Fivelements’ approach to nutrition, restoration and connection with nature.

New Approach to Wellness Hospitality
Fivelements’ expansion is supported by GOCO’s investment partnership with Fullerton Fund Management, a wholly owned subsidiary of Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund. The partnership between Fullerton and GOCO has been established to accelerate investment in wellness real estate and longevity hospitality.
For Schweder and his wife, Josephine Leung, Managing Partner of GOCO Hospitality and Owner of Fivelements, the brand’s evolution is also deeply personal. Both have experienced cancer, shaping their conviction that health should be approached proactively and continuously, rather than only once illness occurs.
“GOCO was born from a very personal place,” says Schweder. “I wanted to bridge the gap – hospitals that needed to understand hospitality, and hotels that needed to take health seriously. Fivelements is where those two worlds finally meet, and where we get to do it on our own terms, for the long term.”
Leung also brings direct experience of personalised health through her role as co-founder of Bangkok-based longevity clinic, OLiv Longevity, further influencing Fivelements’ ambition to make wellbeing more personalised and evidence-informed.
“Having experienced the healthcare system as patients, we understand how important it is to feel genuinely looked after and to have knowledge that can help us make better health choices,” says Leung. “Fivelements exists because that standard – the one we needed for ourselves – should be available to everyone. It’s about bringing that sense of care into everyday life.”
As Fivelements grows, the ambition is to create a connected global ecosystem where hospitality can support healthier choices, deeper connection and a more regenerative relationship between people and the places they inhabit.
