Indigo8 Welcomes Sashwa River of Stars

A safari retreat grounded in wilderness, wellbeing and purpose

Indigo8 is pleased to announce its new client, Sashwa River of Stars – a nature-led luxury retreat in South Africa’s Greater Kruger, created for those who have lost their natural rhythm and are ready to find it again.

Perched on the banks of the Olifants River, where elephants trace the water’s edge and the night sky spills unfiltered into the river below, Sashwa is a sanctuary for the overwhelmed, the disconnected, and the quietly exhausted. It was born from a simple belief: that the wilderness has the power to heal, clarify and inspire, if given the time and space to do so.

Safari at Sashwa moves at a slower pace. Guided bush walks sharpen the senses, game drives often stretch into dusk, and nights are illuminated by stars, not screens. These moments in the wild are interwoven with daily holistic practices, from yoga and meditation to therapeutic body treatments, creative sessions and time deliberately left unfilled.

Food plays its part, too. Dining at Sashwa is plant-based, seasonal and nourishing, much of it grown in the on-site organic permaculture garden or sourced from community gardens. Meals are restorative rather than performative – designed to support clarity, energy and balance, not interrupt it.

As well as their own signature retreats and third party hosted retreats, Sashwa offers three and six night ‘Self Retreat’ packages for deep self-reflection, mental clarity and emotional healing through immersive experiences in nature.

With just twelve suites set along the river and within the surrounding gardens, Sashwa is intentionally intimate - ideal for buyouts. It's particularly well suited to exclusive use or multi-generational travel.

Accommodation is luxurious but calm and unfussy, designed to sit lightly within the landscape. Shared spaces – including a river-facing yoga deck, and a Wholeness Centre with spa, gym and Himalayan crystal infrared sauna – support both physical restoration and gentle movement alongside moments of quiet reconnection. The lodge’s many meditation spaces and secluded spots for wildlife watching encourage guests to pause, reflect, and return to the natural rhythms of the bush throughout the day.
