Ruby Wax launches 'Keeping it Real in a Frantic World' retreat

"When our computers overload, we know how to switch them off and boot them up again a bit later. Why can't we do that to ourselves without feeling like a failure?"Ruby Wax, Retreat Facilitator

Broughton Sanctuary in Yorkshire invites you to join Ruby Wax - mental health advocate and #1 best-selling author of I’m Not as Well as I Thought I Was, Buddhist monk and meditation teacher Gelong Thubten, and author and presenter Rahla Xenopoulos on a five-night retreat:Keeping it Real in a Frantic World’ (1 - 6 August 2023)

This retreat is designed to help participants combat stress by making simple lifestyle changes. “We offer this retreat as a guide to help bulk up our emotional resilience as far as learning to deal with the unknown,” Ruby Wax commented.

"Now is the time to allow for more vulnerability and authenticity in the modern frantic world. We are proud and delighted that Ruby Wax, the Queen of Keeping it Real, will be back at Broughton Sanctuary, which she describes as 'probably the coolest place I've ever been,' to show the way - along with her acclaimed colleagues, Thubten and Rahla," Roger Tempest, custodian of Broughton Estate, said.

The programme will be held at the 3000-acre Broughton Sanctuary, situated in the foothills of the Yorkshire Dales - one of the most picturesque parts of the country. Broughton Sanctuary is home to one of Britain’s most exciting nature recovery projects, with an extensive tree-planting and rewilding programme.

Parts of the retreat will also take place in Avalon Wellbeing, the UK’s leading, state-of-the-art wellbeing centre and the beating heart of Broughton Sanctuary. This building is based on biophilic (organic) design with sacred geometry and the Fibonacci incorporated throughout. During their stay, guests will have the opportunity to experience the unique Pool Suite: a low-chemical swimming pool looking out onto the adjacent woodland, a sauna, a steam room and hydrotherapy pool. There are many places beyond the building itself in the Sanctuary grounds to return to source, from meditation labyrinths, wild swimming reservoirs, a cosmic garden and much more.
