The Center announces first of its kind Teenage Rewire Retreat

We are witnessing a youth mental health crisis from the psychological effects of transferring social interaction onto screens which is so severe that Jean Twenge, author of iGen concludes that “it’s not an exaggeration to describe iGen as being on the brink of the worst mental-health crisis in decades”.  The recent BAFTA win for I am Ruth shines a spotlight on the challenge of young people growing up in a digital world, largely unguided in how to navigate it.

In response to this, The Center announces The REWIRE™ Retreat led by Natasha K. Richardson this August.  Aimed specifically at teenage girls who are seeking more from life, for those who feel a deep desire for healthiness in their lives and the world, and who wish to live and find joy offline.

The REWIRE™ Retreat is a three day, two night immersion taking place August 11 – 13,  that has been created for teenagers to teach them how to regulate their emotions and develop a strong sense of self in our highly stressed and increasingly digital world. REWIRE™ equips teenagers with everyday practical life skills they don’t get taught in school and particularly how to feel good about themselves offline, away from the noise of social media and the constant sensory overload this brings. REWIRE™ will address the root causes of anxiety and support teenagers with tools and practises to support their emotional and physical wellbeing.

With a carefully curated stream of reconnective experiences, the retreat will walk young adults on a personal journey of growth and development, helping them feel calmer and become clearer about what they want in life and why.  The retreat will include a digital detox, series of somatic practices, workshops, rituals and talks.  Coupled with spaces of reflection and contemplation, the intention is to percolate young minds, behaviours, bodies and belief systems to equip the participants to return to their lives feeling self-reliant and grounded.

Who is behind the Center?
Ana Pincus and Fiona Arrigo launch a thoughtful series of retreats led by a community of teachers and healers who stand in their authority committed to restoring respect, empathy and compassion as pillars of healing and transformation. Notably, there will be a strong emphasis on supporting the young with a unique REWIRE™ retreat specifically for teenage girls to equip themselves with everyday practical life skills they don’t get taught in school away from the noise of social media and constant sensory overload. This will be done through a carefully curated stream of reconnective experiences to support young adults to a place of calm and help them to think about what they want in life and why.

This summer’s programme of pop-up retreats represents the first step in a much bigger initiative happening in 2024, when Pincus and Arrigo will share a vision to offer deep and profound support for women in a community setting.
