Four Seasons Resort Bali at Jimbaran Bay Serves Up A Fresh Culinary Chapter With New Executive Chef Benjamin Halat

The appointment of Chef Benjamin Halat as new Executive Chef from 1 May 2026 heralds a new culinary chapter at Four Seasons Resort Bali at Jimbaran Bay. With a dazzling international career to date, Chef Benjamin brings a wealth of experience, creativity and culinary leadership to one of Indonesia’s leading luxury resorts.

Rooted in Balinese culture, Four Seasons Jimbaran Bay is a sunset coast beach retreat complete with temples, water gardens and four exceptional dining venues. Gastronomic experiences include sundowners and fresh seafood at Sundara, the property's signature ocean’s-edge restaurant; Jala, serving authentic Balinese flavours with secret heritage recipes; and the community conscious bar TELU, offering consciously crafted cocktails and bar bites; along with casual poolside fare at Alu.

Sundara, the resort’s seafront haven, which earned a 2025 Global Recognition Award for “reimagining luxury hospitality through cultural authenticity and sustainable innovation,” is a fitting location for Chef Benjamin’s to share his creative vision. Born and raised in Munich, the young chef’s passion for food was nurtured in a family where meals were a celebration of togetherness: his favourite dining experience remains a meal cooked by his grandmother and served under olive trees in Italy. At seventeen, the pioneering youngster began his career with an apprenticeship at the Michelin-starred restaurant of Hotel Königshof Munich. That strong foundation in discipline, precision and creativity continues to define his approach today.

Over the following two decades, Chef Benjamin’s talent and dedication took him across Europe and Asia, gaining experience in world class restaurants in Germany, Switzerland, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand. He has trained under – and collaborated with – celebrity chefs from across the globe. As executive chef at the Mandarin Oriental Savoy, Zurich, he was part of the team that earned the reopening property the Gault&Millau Schweiz Hotel of the Year 2025.

Inspired by a boundless curiosity for the world’s flavours, Chef Benjamin is delighted to return to Asia – especially as a new member of the Four Seasons family. “I’m excited to join Four Seasons Jimbaran Bay and to lead such a talented culinary team,” he says. “Bali offers incredible ingredients and rich foodie traditions, and I look forward to creating dishes that celebrate this beautiful island while offering new experiences for our guests.”

At its core, Chef Benjamin’s approach emphasises craftsmanship and innovation, and he’s renowned for fostering a supportive team culture that encourages excellence. Beyond the kitchen, he enjoys outdoor adventures with his wife Khalidah and daughter Maria, from hiking and cycling to exploring nature’s wonders together. “Maria is already dreaming of snorkelling, Khalidah can’t wait to discover the island’s flavours, and I am looking forward to learning how to surf,” he adds.

With Chef Benjamin at the helm, the Forbes Five-Star resort continues to elevate its reputation as a premier culinary destination in Bali. From a refined oceanfront setting, world-class gastronomy, local culture and sustainable practices come together to create unforgettable dining experiences.
