New Nature-Inspired Gym At Fritton Lake

Nature is at the heart of Fritton Lake in Norfolk. Now, the private holiday and members club is launching a brand new nature gym, designed to bring the wellbeing benefits of the great outdoors, inside. The first of its kind in the region, the nature-centric gym opens at Fritton Lake on Saturday 11th December. Members and holiday guests will have full access to the studio, located in a barn next to the Clubhouse, seven days a week.

To create a truly special work-out experience which supports Fritton Lake’s commitment to sustainability, Fritton Lake enlisted gym consultancy Biofit. Their expertise lies in creating wellbeing interiors combining sustainable materials, with mind-body fitness concepts.

Respectful of the bucolic location, we have created a healthy, restorative gym interior that prioritizes non-toxic sustainable materials and natural forms of movement, whilst also facilitating sports performance exercises for those looking to up their game on the lake, road or trails”, said Matt Morley of Biofit.

Fritton Lake’s consciously low-tech gym features kit made of natural materials. Four zones are dedicated to cardiovascular, strength, natural movement and group activities. Equipment includes an oak-framed manual treadmill, water rowing machine as well as functional and bodyweight training equipment made of natural materials, including ropes, rings, bars, sandbags and balance boards. Stretching and cool downs are on cork yoga mats, eco foam rollers and mobility balls.

Decor in the barn includes UK-made eco-friendly, non-toxic wall paint in khaki green as well as 100% recyclable, low-emission flooring for improved indoor air quality.  A new therapy room will be used for sports massage, with spa and beauty treatments coming soon.

The new gym is a seamless, all-weather, addition to the existing offering at Fritton Lake, where the emphasis is very much on being at one with nature.  Members and guests can enjoy open water swimming, paddle boarding and rowing on the lake, as well as trail running and cycling through the woods, personal training, group fitness and yoga and tennis. There’s also a heated outdoor pool and a new floating sauna on the lake.

Sports and recreation manager at Fritton Lake, Nicola Pollard said, “We’re excited to create a bespoke gym that complements the activities already on offer at Fritton Lake.  To make the most of the new equipment and space, we’re introducing a range of indoor training experiences such as technical workshops and classes, all aimed at enriching the fitness experience for members and guests throughout the year.”

Members can book free inductions with Nicola ahead of the gym's official opening. More specialised follow up sessions can be booked through the main reception.

Accommodation at Fritton Lake is in beautiful woodland cabins, farm cottages and boutique hotel rooms in the 16th century Clubhouse (from £160 per night, including breakfast). Full membership costs from £595 per year. (www.frittonlake.co.uk).
